Olympics:  London 2012

The City of London is proud to be taking the torch from Beijing to host the 2012 Olympic Games.

The official dates for the games are as follows:

Summer Olympic Games between the 27th July and 12th August 2012.

The Paralympic Games are held between the 29th August and 9th September 2012.

It has been reported that the Capital is likely to have in the region of 450,000 visitors during the Olympic Games. The total number of hotel rooms in London has been established at 100,000 rooms available for this period. Many of the hotels have already sold their accommodation for the period, while a small number have yet to release accommodation until closer to games.

It is estimated that the daily number of visitors to the Games will be around 5.5million people. Careful consideration needs to be given to people wishing to travel into the Games. Some visitors have elected not to stay in Stratford due to the high density of people at all times of the day and the invariable strain on amenities, shops and restaurants.
